Easter is early this year with Ash Wednesday falling on              St Valentine’s Day– 14th February!

The word “Lent” is derived from the Old English word “Lencten”, which means “spring”, or when the days begin to “lengthen”.

The six Sundays in Lent do not count as part of the forty days This is because every Sunday is a mini-feast day in which the

Resurrection is celebrated.

The Ash Wednesday Area Service will be held at

All Saints’ Church, Leigh at 7:30 pm.

14th February 2018

We shall again be holding Lent Lunches in

Checkley Community Centre

 on Fridays in Lent,

beginning on 16th February 1:00– 2:30 pm;

so book the dates now!

All monies raised will be for the Bishop’s Lent Appeal, which this year is raising funds to support  refugees and asylum seekers, people forced out of stable societies and still left        financially excluded when they reach a place of safety."

 A Lent Course

This year we shall be using

Life on the Frontline

which offers six sessions, each with a short film, biblical

reflections, real stories and interactive exercises – to help small groups explore together Christ’s call and commission for the whole of life.

Session 1: The Frontline Call – What is my Frontline and why                             does it matter?

Session 2: The Frontline Commission – What happens when                    life on our Frontline feels difficult?

Session 3: The Frontline Community – How do all our various                  church activities equip us for our lives when we are                        apart?

Session 4: The Frontline Concern – How do you know what to                           do on your Frontline?

Session 5: The Frontline Cry – How does our Frontline shape                              our prayers?

Session 6: The Frontline Commitment – How can we sustain                               our commitment to one another on the Frontline?

We will meet at Crimond, Church Lane, the home of John and Pat Redfern, who have kindly offered to host the course again.     All welcome!

Please sign up in church or ring Irene on 722975 if you are interested in coming to the sessions on Wednesdays,      beginning on 21st February 7:30 pm.
